Last week, El Baz was asked to comment on the scene in Egypt in recent days where there are daily demonstrations against President Hosni Mubarak. His remarks are below:
"What is happening in Egypt is the result of a repressive regime that has kept total control of the country and all its resources," wrote El Baz. "It allowed the country to aimlessly drift and to lose its standing in Africa, in the Middle East and in the rest of the world."
"The young generation found itself aimless and without a future. No one gets his due except those who are 'connected' to the regime."
"The youth revolted and have control of the country at the present. The only way out of the bloodshed is for President Mubarak to leave with whatever is left of respect and leave it for the people to work out a system to give the people hope and take the country forward."
